Lee Library in 1999 titled “The Doctor is In, Sit and Stay.” The works feature shapes and images of dogs, hearkening back to Tanifuji’s childhood. She recounts that in the neighborhood she grew up in, every household owned a dog. As a child, she never owned a doll, but instead played with all of the dogs around her.
