Keiko Tanifuji studied at BYU graduating in 1991 with a BFA and in 1997 with an MFA in printmaking. These monotype prints were part of an exhibition of her work at the Harold B. Lee Library in 1999 titled “The Doctor is In, Sit and Stay.” The works feature shapes and images of dogs, hearkening back to Tanifuji’s childhood. She recounts that in the neighborhood she grew up in, every household owned a dog. As a child, she never owned a doll, but instead played with all of the dogs around her. Since her time at BYU, Tanifuji has moved back to Japan where she works as a contract specialist for the Corps of Engineer, Japan Engineering District.
