Title:
The Birdhouse Project | Fall 2022
On Display:
December 12, 2022 – January 20, 2023
Location
Gallery on Five, level 5
Since the Great Exhibition of 1851 in Hyde Park, London, design history can be mapped through technological developments, shifting cultural values, evolving economic centers, and popular design movements such as: art nouveau, art deco, streamlining, modernism, post-modernism, and deconstruction. Students research and present in class on historical and notable contemporary designers. The 2022 designer birdhouse exhibition is the work of 19 design students exploring designer’s philosophies. Students created a birdhouse as if they were one of their favorite designers. The birdhouses should reflect the cognitive and aesthetic values of their chosen designer.
Industrial Design 339 was taught by Professor Bryan Howell. The work exhibited in the library is the final project by the following nineteen students. The class Instagram link is HERE, please join and make comments on their work!
