The progression of western civilization has been a continual move inward. Land is settled, buildings and houses erected, and the out of doors is increasingly alienated from everyday life. Our lives are centered in offices, classrooms, stores, homes and other indoor areas. These structures are often a simplification of environment, favoring geometric forms over organic and man made over natural. Building materials such as florescent lights, acrylic paint, cinderblock walls, and synthetic carpeting make up our daily aesthetic. This series of photographs is an evaluative look at these common spaces that have become standard in our post-industrial society.
