The BYU Harold B. Lee Library is pleased to host Nzambi (God), a traveling exhibition produced by the Mormon Arts Center (New York) and curated by Glen Nelson, co-director of the Center. The exhibition was part of the second annual Mormon Arts Center Festival held in New York City, June 28-30, 2018 at the Italian Academy at Columbia University.

One of the featured artists in the festival was Hildebrando de Melo, an internationally known Mormon artist from Angola. His powerful artwork was produced as a result of his participation in the Center’s first artist’s residency program in the Spring of 2018, in a very short time.

By bringing Nzambi (God) to the BYU campus, the Lee Library aims to add a diverse perspective to the students’ experience in Provo, UT. Nzambi (God) explores a personal relationship of the artist with God, and the influence of the Angolan civil war on his family and personal life.
