ON DISPLAY
May 4, 2016 – June 1, 2016

LOCATION
Gallery on Five, level 5

This exhibition, curated by Kirsten Watkins, showcases approximately 20 hats from BYU’s Historic Clothing Collection. There are also images from original fashion magazines (like Vogue) and paper patterns from the 1950s.

Kirsten is a graduating senior in the Theatre and Media Arts program at BYU, where she specialized in costumes and costume history. She has designed several dance and theatre pieces, including BYU Theatre Ballet’s Alice in Wonderland and Charlotte’s Web. She has also been a teaching assistant for the History of Costumes class for several semesters.

This past year, she has worked on rehousing the BYU’s Historic Clothing Collection under the direction the Harold B. Lee Library and the Museum of Peoples and Cultures. While working with the collection, Kirsten was able to learn about handling historic textiles and working on this exhibit has given her a chance to engage more on the scholarly side of historic clothing.
